Comprehensive environmental performance index (CEPI): an intuitive indicator to evaluate the environmental quality over time

Abstract Current environmental indicators assess quality, but no single indicator measures the overall performance of a country, state, or region in an easy and intuitive methodology. This paper provides simple informative known as Comprehensive Environmental Performance Index (CEPI) for 48 Asian countries period from 1996 to 2020. The CEPI represents step toward clarity by combining six different (Ecological Footprint, Quality, vulnerability, sustainability, adjusted net savings, pressure on nature) data into one indicator. Contrary other indices, does not use complex mathematical procedures is designed simplicity, which facilitates understanding applying economics professionals laymen. We adopt PCA (Principal Component Analysis) maximize ease understanding. In addition Raw CEPI, gives equal weightings its components, we build weighted show that two indices behave similarly data.
